STRUGGLING WITH REMEMBERING THINGS?

Retention of information is vital if you intend to go very far in life. Imagine leaving the office and your wife calls you that you should please get an important soap for her on your way back. As soon as you are done talking to her, your boss calls that there is an important assignment that you are supposed to turn in first thing in the morning and he needs to show you some key points to note; so you quickly dash back into the office and after 30 minutes discussion with your boss, you hop into your car and you drive off. Then you got home and your wife demanded the soap she asked you to get, no excuses!!!! you had forgotten so you had to lie that the soap was no longer in stock when you got there. It could really be embarrassing when you have been having issues keeping things in your memory and really you should try to change. Some are blessed with the ability to remember things while others are not and often times, we hear things like not to worry, you can keep a diary, get personal assistants, set reminders on your phone and so on.

While these technological tools are wonderful and they are to be embraced, there is a genuine reason to try and improve on your retention capacity and this is why I am encouraging you to do this; A lot of us who find it hard to remember everyday things remember their academic work in school and things that they consider important to them. Most of these people do not forget to brush their teeth neither do they forget to go to work nor do they forget when they are supposed to play golf or some other sport. So I put it to you that you only try to remember the things you wish to remember.

However, I ask you to please cheer up as I recently came across an article by Timothy Romano who is a memory expert and he also encourages that you can learn to improve your memory information. This he says you can do by learning the act of adding visuals to things you wish to remember and just when you need to remember, the information would pop up in your head.

P.S: I have tried this and I found that it helped to improve my memory retention

SIMPLE IS THE WAY TO GO

Hi Folks, the weekend has simply been splendid as always and I would like to remind you that having had a really strenuous week, it is simply time to have fun but in having fun I want to remind you of a concept that most of us know but may not have been putting to practice over the last few days, months or years as the case maybe.

Good morning all; the instructor's voice was clear in a class of 30 students. As the class went on, he asked a question; a lady stood up and tried to answer but in the process, she tried to be “overtly phonetic” and that left us all wondering where she had been the night before. She never used to speak that way and was clearly not a child who was just learning how to speak. Where did this manner of speaking suddenly emanate from? All minds in the room seemed to be communicating without uttering a word. Then it became clearer that even the message she was trying to pass across was not coherent and in the process of trying to forcefully change her natural manner of speaking, the answer obviously did not make sense.

Then the Instructor smiled and said hey young lady what exactly are you trying to say and by the way where did you suddenly pick up this manner of speaking and why is it that this happened all of a sudden; I thought I saw you 2 days ago; what and who have you been listening to? Obviously embarrassed, she retorted to her shell and could no longer take it all while standing. The message of the day came out clear from the instructor to all of us; please learn to keep it simple. Why do you want to be who you are not and why do you intend to do things in more complex ways than you can handle. Please try to keep it simple and then we continued with answering the question and then into the lecture of the day.

The following tips I found here would help you keep it simple when you intend to do things

1. Be Impeccable with your Word: Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the Word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your Word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don’t Take Anything Personally: Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don’t Make Assumptions: Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your Best: Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.
Have a fun filled weekend and remember that the only way from now on is simplicity

IT DOES NOT COST A THING

Hello All,

I trust that the day has been wonderful and you all are having a splendid time. A thought struck me and I intend to share it with you. I have discovered that we often find it easy to value the things we spend a lot on. The beautiful cars, gigantic edifices, the decoration therein, a new jet/plane and so on. We do all we can to value these things simply because they cost a lot and we need to spend a lot to maintain them so that our investments would not amount to waste of time, energy and resources.

Alas, we find it a bit hard to come to terms with things we have not even spent a dime on. One of such is when you are told to just believe; Believe you can do it, Believe you can make it; Believe the task can be completed and don't even stop believing when you fail at it once. We hear these cries daily but yet we find it hard to exercise this wonderful gift nature has bestowed upon us.

So I thought that wouldn't men find it a lot easier if they had to spend on believing to be able to practice the tenets and then shine through at the end? Yes I feel that would propel a lot of us but fortunately, it's a gift and it comes at no cost so dear friends why not utilize this wonderful gift to combat any difficulty you may be facing today.
Just Believe and you will see the utmost result, think like you have to invest so much time and energy into concentrating your efforts on believing and then you will surely reap the rewards.

Freely it was given to us all and I am pleading with you today and for the rest of your lives to believe as that is a strong asset.

Have a wonderful weekend ahead

TOMORROW NEVER DIES

007 (James Bond) gave us a glimpse into what tomorrow has always been like and would continue to be long after we are gone and how true indeed that tomorrow never dies.

Tomorrow gives different feelings to two groups of people; the first being the child and the second the adult. For the child, it's always about fun; hence a trip to look forward to, some place to play, the movie theater to visit, school holidays coming up, the amusement park, promises of gifts and most importantly a brighter and rewarding future.

For the adult, its a bit different as the burden of tomorrow carries with it deep responsibilities; someone to take care of, a promise to be kept, a business to keep running or start, a family to provide for, appointments to keep and most importantly goals to be met.

In all that we do either as adult or children, indeed tomorrow is always awake and the things you set out to achieve tomorrow suddenly becomes outdated as soon as it is achieved. Little wonder there is always something about tomorrow that doesn't allow us to rest.

Even though tomorrow never dies, remember that long after you are gone, tomorrow will still be awake so my advice is this Live today for tomorrow and never forget to take care of yourself as you go along with the many hustles and challenges of life.

I wish you a fruitful today and a rewarding tomorrow.

Your voice, Your identity: DESMOND TUTU

Ordinarily born to the world on the 7th of October, 1931 in Klerksdorp (located in the North West province of South Africa) this activist and retired Anglican Priest has shown the world exactly what it means to use your voice against whatever you are not in support of and use it as well in favour of what you support.
He is quoted as saying that Good is stronger than evil; love is stronger than hate; light is stronger than darkness; life is stronger than death. Victory is ours, through him who loves us. He studied at Pretoria Bantu Normal College and became a teacher and eventually resigned from his position because black South Africans had poor educational prospects as a result of an act that was passed. This resignation propelled studies in theology and he was eventually ordained as an Anglican priest.
He later travelled to King’s college London where he obtained his Bachelors and Masters in Theology. After years of working in the United Kingdom, he returned to South Africa and notably was his letter to the Prime Minister (B.J. Vorster) where he described the situation in South Africa as a powder barrel that could explode at any time but this letter was not replied.
He used his position to speak strongly against apartheid during the protests by black South Africa in 1976 and this is what he had to say among so many other things:

"If you are neutral in situations of injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor. If an elephant has its foot on the tail of a mouse and you say that you are neutral, the mouse will not appreciate your neutrality.''

He was briefly jailed and his passport was revoked twice which I choose to call his lot for daring to speak up at times when the circumstances around did not encourage him to speak.

After the fall of apartheid, he headed the truth and reconciliation committee. He is often regarded as South Africa's moral conscience and has been described by former president of South Africa Nelson Mandela as "sometimes strident, often tender, never afraid and seldom without humour. Desmond Tutu's voice will always be the voice of the voiceless".

Archbishop Desmond Tutu set a worthy example for us all in that you can use your position and voice to bring about a change where you are. He was born ordinary but today we see him as extra ordinary. The extra still being added in the course of his life.

Please do not shy away from using that voice for there is a reason why you are in that position. Whoever you are speaking to may or may not listen but it's important to speak.
Learn to use your voice wisely today

Be Matured!!!

ONE DAY AT A TIME

The older this adage gets the more it teaches us to live our lives with wisdom. These days, we tend to encumber ourselves with too many things. The faster we go the slower we seem to be and it prompts us to want to do more for ourselves, immediate family and the world at large. The drive to hedge our names on the many trophies set by men seems to drive us daily and we fail to understand that all you have got is 24 hours a day.
Each day brings its own troubles and the moment you start to appreciate the trouble each day brings and how to live fully by enjoying the moment while not throwing away tomorrow in the process, then you will start getting the best of your day. I choose to call every DAY as DAILY ADVANCING YOUR … You can fill in the blank but the key to enjoying the day is to realize that you are doing it daily while ensuring you are advancing in all spheres of life.
If you learn to take one day at a time, you will get around solving many of lives complex problems with much ease and you will begin to realize the benefit of the day that we are given. This would save your colleagues, friends, family and even you a whole lot of problems.
Live out each day to the fullest and get enriched knowing that tomorrow will bring better things since you planned and gave it your best today
Have a truly enriched day ahead
Live Maturedly!!!
